No punts. First down markers are at 15, 30, 45, 60, 45, 30, 15 and you have 4 plays to get to each. (Actually, not sure about the yardage. There are 2 first downs and then a mid-field first down, then two more first downs.). |

So I practiced with them Wednesday and Thursday night before the Friday, Saturday, Sunday tournament. I actually flew like 1000 miles and took time off work for the opportunity because I thought it'd be fun. I totally immersed myself in the entire thing.
They were good but not elite. It was pretty awesome. I didn't even waste time with names, just numbers. Learned their scheme. And I tried to get them to play a lot more aggressive. Ended up going 2-1 in the pool play, won our quarterfinal game 2-0, lost the semi-final 1-0 (heartbreaker on a PK), but won the third-place match.
It was on the only trophy the team had won in years. Closest I've ever come to wanting kids. |
