Or is that a joke? Not like tipping the ring salesman joke, since that is obviously totally real, but a real joke.

Are there employers who care about the number of sick days their employees take when they aren't sick? Yes, a lot. People get fired for it frequently.

lots of localities are passing paid sick leave laws that don't allow an employer to require a doctor's note unless the employee is out longer than consecutive days. insanity.

Once the idea got into my head I couldn't help myself but meticulously order the names on every email. Even if 1/1000 lawyers care I can't stop myself from doing it.

I once had a partner yell at me because I put her in the CC line and NOT the TO line.

I put her 1st in the CC line and only the recipient was in the TO line. BIGLAW was so fun.

I also once got yelled at for not responding to an email within 15 minutes that was sent at 12:30 AM on a Saturday night.

that is funny.

Gosh, one of the things I particularly hated was doing east coast deals from the west coast and waking up at 6:30am to 35 unread emails.

God damn, my life is so much better....

Lawyer pedantry knows no bounds. Another fun example is "attachment order." I.e., if your email says, "Attached, please find the proposed motion and order . . ." then you better be damn sure that the motion is the first attachment and the second attachment is the order. Otherwise there could be MASS CONFUSION.

Brother I have posted multiple times about it. It's real. It's the first "talk" I got as an associate about 2 mos in. I learned after I got the talk that there was a partner that had a sr assoc go around to all new lawyers and "advise" them on this mandatory eitiquette.

Lmao
