What exactly do you want to know?

It has it's positives and if you make anything resembling decent money then you'll be in the upper echelon of society there. people with $ live in avondale/san marco near the river (older southern upscale neighborhood but close proximity to blacks), gated communities in southside (typical FL mcmansions but safer and still close to beach and downtown), at the beaches (chill fratty beach neighborhoods but also expensive for what you get and not very private), or Ponte Vedra (much better public schools and furthest from blacks but also kind of isolated).

Most stereotypes are true, there are tons of violent blacks, and most people are prole as fuck and huge areas of the city are hellholes. Downtown area also is complete flame.

lots of stories like this - and this happened in a "nice" suburban area:

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/crime/two-arrested-in-murder-of-man-who-came-home-to-burglary-in-oceanway/402536584

in JAX, the crime is NOT well-contained to the "bad areas" - it tends to leak.

Imagine living in the rural south.

Now imagine that same lifestyle and mentality, but in a city with a NFL franchise.

Super chill lifestyle in Ponta Vedra. Raise good boys at Episcopal or St. John's. Not a lot of young people. Young people who start out their move to Atlanta or Tampa or Dallas Or Nashville.

they DO have urban public transit:

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/sqz-lCcNBQU/maxresdefault.jpg

it's a monorail line from the 80's, lol. you can ride a gimpy little train over the river if you want.

they also have vacant lots used as makeshift parking lots within blocks of 30 story office buildings so there's not a ton of need for public transit. also the cops seem to have better things to do than enforce DUI laws.

i think the story in jacksonville is that they were jealous of disney's monorail and wanted to be more like a "real" city to attract an NFL franchise, so they copied a similar design called the "people mover" from detroit.

it's like a real transit system, but smaller and cheaper.

Spent some time there. Somehow, it always seemed like Florida, but not quite the real Florida. Probably because it's close to the rest of the US, unlike Tampa/Orlando/Miami. It actually gets chilly there in the winter. Tons and tons of suburban sprawl, but I never got that feeling of being in a place that was purely the creation of the mid-20th century that I do in other parts of Florida.
