THen I recommend France and trying to form the Pentagon with the BUrgundian Inheritance event.
France is def fun b/c you can basically take on the entire continent w/ the size of your army.
Only then I recommend playing other random countries |

Just play the game and you'll figure it out. It's a huge time commitment though, I think I have like 1,000 hours played and I'm probably only good enough to call myself an intermediate player.
