The non-bruteforce attacks are mostly academic curiosities that don't compromise the ciphers in practice. I doubt 128 bit AES will ever be broken by humans in a situation where it is being used correctly.
It is pretty clear at this point that scalable quantum computers will be a reality in a few years though, which will require public key cryptography to be rethought. |

Public blockchains would still be valuable in lots of areas. I think it would dramatically improve the UCC filing process, for instance. |
