Problem with medical school is you basically roll the dice of where you end up living because of the residency matching.
Not worth it for me.

the docs i know make so much more than me and my lawyer pals. Granted their schooling seems way harder and then they have to do residency.
and I'm not talking about specialists here either. It seems like even the standard primary care IM and FM guys do way better than us

thats another thing, they don't have to take a separate bar for each state like we do. Thats another ridiculous thing about this profession.
I don't know if I could get through their schooling though. Thats the problem.Residency also sounds terrible. But at least at the end of all that you've got an MD and a board certification.
What do we have? A pen and a stack of useless papers? We barely even have papers anymore, what with the internet
SAD

A lot of docs who went into medicine to go with the flow, for career stability, for money, or for prestige lmao, want to leave the field by mid-career, if not sooner, except they can't because of sunk costs.
Practicing medicine means you deal with shitty patients, shitty hours, shitty insurance companies, shitty allied professionals, and all around shittiness. You need intrinsic motivation to keep you going.
Of course, you shouldn't take an internet rando's words for it, so I suggest you read some books like The House of God (outdated but still good), or The Real Doctor Will See You Shortly. The second book was written by a guy who was doing Internal Medicine residency at Columbia when he stuck himself with a needle containing his HIV+ patient's blood. Good times!
