Kind of a hobby, could fly for life flight or the forest service during wildfires and eventually buy my own chopper

I get it as a cool occasional hobby but why the fuck would you ever want to OWN a chopper? Where the fuck do you plan on flying it?

As a recreational pilot you shouldn't be getting into any airspace near a major fire.

Cr is to get a conventional fixed wing license 1st, then explore helicopters 2nd. If you want to feel like some kind of pretend warrior, join civilian air patrol and they have 'ranks' and 'uniforms' and shit.

Not a career path a chose, I know a thing or two about aviation. Happy to dig up my super old admission letters to Embry Riddle, Purdue, and US Army "high school to flight school / Warrant Officer" if you'd like?

Those things are death traps. At least with choppers if the engine dies you can still autorotate and land

How much to rent a helo for a day?

Renting small planes is surprisingly affordable.
