glad someone else noticed this
I basically don't live or spend any differently at all even with 20x my previous net worth - tonight I'm back @ the cheapest motel in town

Because you're not doing the right things with your money. If I was making a lot of money right now, I would upgrade to a beautiful house with garage and have at least two kids who would then play with my sister's new kid and we would vacation together and bring the dogs too and everyone would have a big bonfire and grill meat and watch the stars.
Go do something like that with your money.

Because a nice 2100 ft2 3 bedroom feels very similar to a huge house, especially if you only use 2100 ft2.
A civic feels a lot like an M5 on your 35 mph-limited street into work, once you've driven both every day.
A $25,000 vacation isn't a whole lot more fun with the family than driving to the coast and putting everyone on a carnival cruise for $1,000.
Being level 50 in your RPG and unlocking some sure-to-be-awesome firebolt spell feels a lot like playing the game at level 49. You're just on a treadmill.
Or, put another way, money is how the world keeps score, so people expect to be better, sexier, sought-after, smoother, happier, more respected, when they end up with $$. It's not how the world awards those accolades/attributes 99.99% of the time. The world just marks you up a few points in the universal score rankings, but everything else stays the same. And the marginal creature comforts are very marginal.

Did you 90s MMORPG, brother?
This thing has huge damage multipliers and massive area of effect. Cool graphics too, so everyone knows you're one of the few that has it. Looked forward to getting it for a week.
Then, twenty minutes later, you get used to having it, and you go back to killing swamp rats for more XP, no more content than you were twenty minutes before.
The same holds true for buying that M5.

highly credited
once you own a comfortable place to live in a place you like, and enough to keep comfortably fed and clothed, everything else is flame
the freedom not to have to do work you don't want to do, however, is priceless
