Your horrible little essays will be graded by an equally ignorant and unimportant practitioner trying to modestly advance their professional prospects through patronage labor to the state bar association. They receive no real training and weren't even particularly capable bar exam writers themselves. They simply signed up for the job and now your short term happiness and potentially your professional future are subject to their petty, sleep-deprived, and capricious natures. You're striving to join the ranks of these soulless assholes, our adult hall monitors. These are the journal board shrews and student bar association dweebs. You actually have something riding on their mood and inevitably subjective appraisal of how quickly you prattled off a bunch of Barbri checklists. That being said, I don't like it so much that I wouldn't consider getting out if the right thing came along.
And TBF, concerning the OP, I used to constantly harp about the regressive and backwards practices at every level of the legal-academic-professional complex, to the extent that other posters asked me to STFU about it. Law has this servile impulse to keep submitting to brainless old rituals and standards like it all belongs to some coherent intellectual tradition. The bar exam is a big part of that stupidity and I like to bitch about it around test time. |
