As I think about it more, I don't think he will.
He hasn't getting more popular, so odds that he can pull off another win against all odds seems to be low, and it seems better for Trump's legacy and self-esteem to just bow out and let Pence take over the nomination.
Taking bets, but I've convinced myself this is more likely.

Ahh yes, I can definitely see a person who never admits he is mistaken owning up to failure in the most public way possible.
And i doubt it'll look bad enough for him to even consider it. He will take some losses (but I don't think lose either house) in 2018, recalibrate again, and start doing what he does best - campaign. Plus I don't see the dems having a candidate that trump will fear.

If he does, he will face a primary challenger
He will likely win the primary election
Will lose the national by about the same (or smaller) margin that he won by last time

i predict he will be primaried by someone like Kasich, Rubio, or even Pence himself, and will lose.
the question then becomes if he tries to run third party, assuring whomever the Dems run will win.
