Law firms aren't paying you for your intellect and mastery of the law from law school. They select from top schools and for higher grades because those are very strong indicators of work ethic and someone who will be willing to work 80 hour weeks and do it competently. Of course there are exceptions like lit and appellate boutiques.

Working nights and weekends isn't just some shitty thing that comes along with the job. It IS the job.
