This is a guy who sold his family's house, his business, and all of his family's belongings when God told him to follow a big tent revival around the US. He and his wife and children sang in a family band during these big tent revivals and, like the other families associated with the ministry, received nothing more than the occasional meal and praise for their work. My former father in law often had to dip into his own family's savings so that the other families could eat.
They parted ways with the ministry after learning that the reverend at its helm owned three mansions and a fleet of supercars. His wife broke the news after catching him in bed with one of his many girlfriends. Despite having been personally burned by one of these wretched creatures, he still believed that the likes of Benny Hinn and Creflo Dollar had been touched by God, and that I hadn't the faith to see their anointing. I saw this man "slain in the spirit" - quite a sight to see - and speak in tongues, but the one time I reached out to him for prayer, he turned his back on me. |
