this isn't a good idea unless you plan on going solo or already have a family/ close connection small firm guarantee to go to. I would imagine trying to pull some career progressing gig is done after this.

The only person I know who did this asked a friend if he could be "counsel" at the friend's firm to fill the resume gap. I would try that or even say self-employed / consultant to something v. having a gap.
