Friend works for a PE fund dealing primarily in RE, and she handles most of the RE stuff. Hours are reasonable and somewhat predictable. Major city. 6th year associate. Pay is about $180k base, bonus can range from $30k to $70k, and they can invest in fund deals as well. She prefers it to biglaw mainly because of the hours and people. We both worked in probably the worst departments at our firm, and we celebrated when each of us finally left.

Yes. She farms a bit of the work out, so that may be a meaningful reason why

In-house at a fund would be so killself. Just to be in irrelevant cost center in a group full of dudes making millions more than you

You should try to somehow jump from being in-house counsel to actually being a PE bro...that's where the REAL money is. They give the in-house guys crumbs.

Even if you make $200k/yr as in-house counsel, you'll probably be working with guys the same age as you making $200k PER MONTH.

It's different when you're the outside counsel. It's not so much in your face like it is when you're actually working At one of these places
