We need to talk about crypto discussion and the slack group

Despite Rach's best efforts this crypto bort is unreadable and has no easy solution. There is a private slack group that seems to be very exclusive. I don't know what the criteria was for admission, but full disclosure I am not in it and after requesting to be added have not been added. This poast is not an attempt to undermine that group - it's a thread to discuss how to get the best out of our resources on XO. I don't want two groups with competing interests. I want to give the current slack admin the chance to improve the group before thinking of other solutions. Theres also space for multiple groups that serve different functions.
Some things I think would be valuable:
-A more inclusive group that is not simply controlled by one person, or if it is centralized, make sure that admin decisions are made with the best interests of the discussion and group. The crypto discussion group is not s place where personal "beef" is settled.
-An economic model that benefits those who provide value to group. I know that a few poasters have sent exeunt Eth because of his contributions here. I'd like to see more of that model as I think it would improve the quality of discussion. Perhaps a subscription service model on the group etc.

It would probably have to be a subscription model, where viewers pay a monthly fee, while contributors split this in a predetermined manner. Details to be worked out include (1) how do you know a contributor is actually receiving good info, (2) how should subscription proceeds be split, and (3) how much should a subscription cost? |
