totally
it's tragic that we were born into this limbo period, when people are beginning to realize that college is a scam, but it's still socially unacceptable NOT to have gone to college.
it's a disaster. we are in an in-between period re: a lot of issues, college is just one of them.

college was 180.
Just that I wasn't ready to have to autonomy yet, and I never went to any classes

Its an enjoyable way to spend 4 years
but its not marginally useful towards the next 40 years of your life,
its a waste of your material resources, its a waste of your most energetic timeframe, it teaches you terrible life habits
its a vacation, taking a 4 year vacation when you're 18 and have no accumulated resources is dumb

because time and energy are finite
because your window to take large career risks is finite
because first mover advantages tend to be large
because early advantages compound

I am from a working class background, went to a working class Catholic High School. I am sure a lot of people didn't learn a lot in college, but I did. Was always "smart" but never intellectually curious.
I didn't approach college as a trade school, which I am sure my parents weren't happy about.
[EDIT] if you mean you don't learn much how to succeed in business, I agree with that.

I mean, I learned a lot too
but relative to what I could have learned had I intentionally accelerated my learning and tried to maximize around learning as much as I could,
instead of maximizing around having a good GPA and still having a lot of free time to screw around
it wasn't actually that much

People that could actually find balance between being lazy and striving when needed (aka actually turning in papers on time) at my UG are mostly doing well, making a lot more than me and having a lot of fun.
Yes, for strivers it sucks. But fuck that shit.

call me a striver if you want (though actually that's pretty laughable)
but its actually a really shitty feedback system
the pace of turning everything in on time tricks you into think you're doing well at life, in reality, you're working at a far slower pace than you need to make just about anything else work in life
Its actually a really shitty habit to get into thinking that that's a good pace to go through life at

I mean b/c i flunked out I ended up having to spend 20K at a out of state flagship for 1 year, but otherwise my UG would've been mad cheap so I'll take this 4 year (ended up being 7 years but w/e) vacation.
THe thing is, the 4 years of nopay sets you up better than nocollege for not only HYP but id say for most top 50 schools if you can do something worthwhile like coding etc.
(Humanities in ivies can get you into finance etc though which is why it was 180)
