Date: September 26th, 2017 1:23 AM Author: hairraiser confused crotch eh. it can be interesting for tourism, but a lot of those places have a lot of problems. whole gigantic chunks of brazil are just shitty towns and mid-sized cities full of poverty and crooks. crime is extremely bad in certain areas, and "pretty bad" in a lot of them. theft is a common pastime even in many "better" areas. the local foods in a lot of places are downright bland. there's a sort of general indolence and gentle fatalism that suffuses a lot of those cultures.
a place like bolivia (for example) has world-class landscapes, but to get to them, you'll be dealing with standoffish locals, a shitload of hucksters and pickpockets, shitty local services, and a lot of bland starchy meals. this is kind of how things work in a lot of south america. there's a reason there are way more western expats somewhere far-afield like bangkok than relatively nearby like lima.
nonetheless, things have improved in a lot of areas. internet and really low-hanging quality-of-life stuff like flushable toilets. those are more common. modern supply chains mean that basic consumer crap is available even in many outlying villages. but unless you do something like marry a local, you probably won't be enthralled with the local culture and feel compelled to stick around for an extended time. |

Argentina has some of the worst people on earth. Yes Buenos Aires is kind of western Europe but might as well go to western Europe.
In sum, just go to New Mexico. It's the same shit

but if you care to explain further why do you think history is the same as north america? north america was colonized by anglo saxons and south america by spain and there are enormous differences in how this process went about and the end result. even the native populations before european conquest were not that similar in culture, history etc |
