Multiple waifu (Permanent ban)

One waifu allowed. If something changes in your relationship and you break up and find someone else, then fine, that's different, but never more than one at a time. Waifuism is a serious commitment and we expect people to treat their waifu like they would a spouse.

3D - Real People (Permanent ban)

We treat relationships with real people the exact same way we treat relationships with fictional characters. If you're in a relationship with your waifu you're in a serious and committed relationship. Dating someone else in addition to that is not acceptable.

Casual/Hugblanketing (Permanent ban)

Hugblanketing is a term where a waifu is used simply as a tool to make someone feel better. If you explicitly plan to end your relationship with your waifu at a later date or in order to date a real person then you are not welcome.

Switching Waifu (Situational)

Sometimes a person falls out of love with their waifu and they begin to look for someone else. We consider waifu switching unfortunate but it's unavoidable that people and feelings do change. That said, we do take action on those we deem to have switched excessively, in line with our casual and hugblanketing rule. If you're having relationship troubles, we highly encourage you to talk about it and look for support rather than keeping quiet and suddenly switching out of the blue.

Headcanon (Situational)

You love your waifu and you must accept them for who they are. All of the great things about them and all of the awful things about them. Every little detail makes them who they are, just like the little details make you who you are. You aren't perfect, and neither is your waifu. But they can be perfect to you. Allow them that satisfaction; to be enough for you without changing who they are. Adding 'new canon' based on headcanon is not allowed either. (IE: you wrote a fanfiction where your waifu kicked a bad drug habit. You take that fanfiction as fact. Your intentions are good but you are forcing them and their story to change based on what you personally desire.)

We are accepting of minor details that are sensible given canon context since they are not major and have some basis. (IE - determining your waifu's favorite color based on what they wear, what they have in their room, etc.)

Original Characters as a Significant Other (Permanent ban)

Your own original characters as a siginificant other are not allowed. If you want to create an OC child then that's fine since many people want to think about a biological kid anyway. The reason for this is much like the reason for the headcanon rule--you can change them as you please to suit your tastes as you change as a person. A serious relationship involves more compromise and acceptance for who someone being the way they are. Your loved one is not your creation to play god with.

Sentience and "Mental Maturity" (Situational)

In this community we follow a couple of mental criteria for waifus:

The character must be sentient.

The character must be 'mentally mature'. This means that they have enough mental capacity and awareness to participate in a healthy romantic relationship. This does not necessarily imply physical age but physical age and mental maturity often go hand-in-hand.

Daughterus and Sonfus (Permanent ban)

Leaving your daughteru/sonfu is unacceptable. We consider you to have formally adopted a daughteru or sonfu when you call a character one of those terms with any moderate degree of repetition. If you don't consider them your child, please consider using a different term to describe them.

These kids just can't be picked up and forgot about. In the same way we treat waifu relationships like marriage, we will be treating picking a daughteru/sonfu just like real adoption. Abandoning a child is one of the worst things someone could do, and you can't just stop being a parent, it's a lifelong commitment.

Also, having more than 3 kids, or adopting several over a short period of time will have the mods talk to you to see if you understand the responsibility you are accepting.
