libs have really let the place go to shit. i'm not even a conservative but having lived in a conservative community, there's no way they would tolerate such nonsense, especially in a neighborhood where a 1 bedroom apartment costs $2500/month. i was thinking today, as i walked by two drug dealers and a homeless dude heating up his crack pipe, that these fuckers need to be thrown in jail. that's the solution. tax the all cash chinese buyers and other foreign buyers 25% on property purchases, use the proceeds to build a prison or expand an existing one and toss them all in there. treat them fine, feed them, whatever you have to do, but they don't belong out in public among normal humans. |

Tenderloin and Civic Center, and Market as you head southwest has a lot of public/social services, and buildings bought up by non-profits that house the homeless, so the drug dealers/users tend to hang out there and seem to deal/use in broad daylight with impunity. Those areas are full blown 10/10. If you've ever seen The Wire where they come up with the Hamsterdam idea, it's like that.
(This subplot was introduced to explore the potential positive effects of de facto "legalization" of the illegal drug trade, and incidentally prostitution, within the limited boundaries of a few uninhabited city blocks. The posited benefits were reduced street crime citywide and increased outreach of health and social services to at-risk populations.)
Except in SF, because housing is limited, those blocks aren't uninhabited. In fact, they're located in prime real estate downtown right next to City Hall, Federal Building, and various tech offices. |
