imagine someone in your inner circle expecting you to treat them with respect and not treating you with respect in return. if in every conversation you had with them they would literally not listen to what you're saying and direct the conversation wherever they wanted.

Usually there's some enabling that goes on in these kinds of situations.

And if he doesn't stop, you have to follow through with your word. Doesn't mean never talk again, but you issue the ultimatum and follow through if he refuses to listen.

Eventually he will get the hint and reform, or he won't and you are better off.

My dad and I are closer than ever now and I’m so glad I did what I did. Take a couple months off. Doing so made my dad realize that he was only going to be in my life if he followed some very basic ground rules of decency. It forces him to become a better man.

Dont listen to xo. If he's making your life miserable, avoid him. Parents become a pest later in life. See him but limit your contact with him. Make excuses for the rest of the time and don't invest yourself in this.
