A couple of girlfriends and I ended up here for a spontaneous girls' night out. Upon arriving, things were a little confusing as there wasn't anyone to greet us at the door, leaving us to awkwardly stand there until one of the waiters waved at us from the back of the room, signaling that he would be with us in a few seconds. I decided it wasn't a big deal, especially since the room looked fairly busy on a Friday night. We opted to sit in the outdoor space, which had enough tables to seat about four parties beneath umbrella-provided shade.

If I were an oenophile, I could write about the types of wine, tasting notes, and countries of origin of the wines we had...but because what I know about wine could fit in the head of a sewing needle, I'll instead devote this space to praising our server who clearly wielded his expertise of the food and wine menu to offer us wonderful recommendations. When we clumsily described our preferred wines, he delivered several samples to try and when it turned out that the "full-bodied red" (a phrase that I'd pulled from a wine magazine and thought it sounded good) was actually the exact opposite of what I liked, he didn't roll his eyes at our ineptitude. Instead, he good-naturedly brought out three more wines to try, until our table was practically littered with wineglasses.

Lightweights that we are, we also ordered several food items to line our stomachs from the deluge of wine. I found the pizza to be delicious (if a little small) with big slices of tomato draped across fresh mozzarella, sauce, and toasty, crunchy naan bread. The crab cakes were also a big hit at our table, though we similarly wished there were more for the price tag. The bruschetta was passable but the toast points had gotten a little soggy under the tomato mixture by the time they arrived at our table.

We ended up spending nearly two hours here and never felt rushed to clear the table. We were glad to have been outside as it seemed a lot louder inside with the band and larger crowd indoors (something to keep in mind if you're looking for a quieter date night). The service was on point and we left with our stomachs happy and our livers a little less so, but all in all, a fantastic way to spend the night
