I liked Troy Calhoun last time, but now they have pro-style QBs and good young receivers. You just do a complete re-do and settle for a total loss the next couple years? Him or Navy's coach could probably ultimately win division titles regularly given Nebraska's resources. But that will require a lot of patience.
Matt Campbell is the clear #2 pick in my mind, he has coached in the Midwest his entire career and won at friggin Iowa State. |

I think both Spielman and Tyjon could thrive in a spread system. I don't see any reason why they'd want to transfer.

Look at Alabama or Oklahoma as examples - programs with resources and tradition just need the right coach. Nebraska has suffered from unbelievably stupid hires. They could have Gary Patterson instead of Pelini. How different is the last decade of Nebraska football if they make that hire? They could have had Tom Herman, Dan Mullen or a number of other people instead of Riley. Nebraska has it's limitations - but the biggest limitation has been AD's making stupid hires. |
