Date: November 15th, 2017 2:17 AM Author: Up-to-no-good mentally impaired trailer park nyuug got a 30th percentile score on his gre quant section. the gre is taken by half a million people per year (compared to less than 100k for the lsat). many of these people are community college types applying to local vocational masters programs, women applying to nursing school/speech pathology school, etc. unlike some other exams where the median taker probably has an iq of slightly greater than 100 simply by virtue of being a legitimate candidate for graduate school, the gre score distribution probably matches the general population iq distribution reasonably well. anyone with an iq of 115+ should be able to get a median score with zero study and a blood alcohol level below .65. he very likely scored below many fringe community college students who are barely capable of stringing together sentences. it makes clustering at high-end scores very significant/doesn't do a good job of distinguishing between people who get perfect scores, but below very high scores it acts like any other standardized test would with respect to distinguishing intellectual ability
the sat also suffers from similar clustering at the top anyways |
