I try to stay away from reddit as much as I can. I'm the kind of guy who uses "110 IQ reddit poster" as an insult.

First of all: if you have a bachelors degree in a difficult subject, congratulations! That is momentous and you should be proud. Whenever you feel like you’re desperately alone and fear that your situation will not change, think back on that achievement and the millions of people who don’t even attain that.

I don’t mean to sound flippant or condescending. I never got a bachelors degree and I am also, quite literally, alone. I did get into college (an Ivy League college, implausibly), but never matriculated because my mental illness(es) continued their trend of ever-worsening, eventually growing over my life like a rank fungus. My family resents me, my former friends have nothing in common with me, my struggle to find meaningful work and forge relationships is compounded by not having a degree... it is profoundly and heartbreakingly isolating.

Your degree will never automatically materialize the life you want for you, but it does grant you access to higher caliber careers and relationships with other educated people. That is a tremendous gift.

edit: I’m sorry if I came across as patronizing. I don’t know your living situation, or fully appreciate how difficult it might be to find work where you live. “It could be worse” is such a terrible platitude, but it does hold a grain of truth.
