there's very little of the old chinese aristocracy left - they almost all fled to taiwan after mao won the civil war. but those that are still there are quite cultured compared to the rest of chinese (peasant) society.
stay away from the noveau riche - they are arrogant, crass, obnoxious, and have usually gotten their money through some sort of corrupt means. most of the overseas chinese students are the kids of these people, which is why they're such useless shitheads and everyone hates them. |
