Masters at stttate U costs something like $30k and only takes 1 year as opposed to 3 for law school at $200k.
That's a swing of over $300k plus 2 years of career advancement. |

The only benefit to accounting is that you can always find a decent job in the field at a decent salary in any market. In law you can strike out completely coming out of school, or get layoff-pwned early in your career and fall all the way to shitlaw, or need to move to another city and not be able to find anything comparable. But there are always more spreadsheets waiting for you at a dead-end job in Duluth. |

Running my own business is 180 and I'd never go back to a firm, but to be happy "practicing law" requires a very specific type of personality. If you have it, then it's not a bad outcome for a polisci shithead.
Not sure why people are suggesting accounting though. That is one of the few white collar jobs that I think would be worse and more soul sucking than law. |

Date: November 20th, 2017 12:52 PM Author: 180 deer antler At this point I don’t think any law school is worth paying full price for. Loans and interest will eat up almost the first three years of your after-tax income, even assuming best case scenario.
If you have no particular interest in law (like most people in law school who wind up there through inertia), I would only recommend if you can get into T5 school and leverage that into a significant scholly at a lower T14. If you can go to Duke/UVA/NW, pay off your loans in Year 1 of biglaw, then start banking and make an earlier exit, that’s a pretty good result, especially given that law school can be a three year vacation.
Even that scenario realies on a lot of assumptions, however, main one being you do passably 1L and aren’t a weirdo, such that you are reasonably likely to get some v100 job. |
