phoenix is a 4.5-million-person metro region, one of america's 15 biggest metros, and yet, its tallest building is from the early-70's and isn't even 500 feet tall. how did this happen?

phoenix is truly the "cute cock" of american skylines, avoiding the big oafish skyscrapers that weigh down other cities.

Green Bay has an NFL team and their skyline doesn't have a building with more than 7 stories

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f6/Downtown_Green_Bay.JPG

The tallest building in the city is a 10 story hospital, but it isn't downtown

Well the city only has like 100k people. The skyline is pretty typical for a city of that size

metro is the only sensible way of comparing populations. if LA annexed a bunch of shit overnight it would potentially be a more populous city than NYC, but it wouldn't change anything, since the overall metro is smaller.

the U.S. is the only country on earth where people who live outside city limits consider themselves to be living in the city. that is because your cities are fucking shitty cities that have narrow boundaries with few people.

conveniently redrawing the boundaries so that you can pretend to be living inside proper city limits is stupid as fuck. its just a way to pretend a city's population is larger than it really is. if you live in a city proper, you live in the city proper. if you live outside a city, you live outside the city. thats it nigga.

HTFH, dummy

San Antonio has only 11 buildings over 300 feet despite a metro pop of more than 2.5 million (including 1.5 million+ in the city proper).
