Ridiculous answer but ridiculous incompetence calls for ridiculous answers.
They should not fire him, but they should fire him after next season if they don't wildly overachieve - I.e. make the playoffs. They already won't be able to find a coach. He was an idiot to go there in the first place because the absolute CEILING for these two years was two wins a season. If they let him go now, they will have to replace him with a defensive assistant from a community college in New Mexico. Remember, even before this - I don't know what, calling it a debacle is an insult to debacles - they were able to attract such stellar unknowns as Mike Pettine and Rob Chudzinzki. Imagine their pool of candidates now.

I generally agree with this
they've had too much churn already
moreover, the roster hasn't been built to win right now anyways, its been built to win 2-3 years down the road, its silly to judge Jackson on their current W's and L's
---------
that said, you wonder what the process is like inside the building, and whether Jackson has let the constant L's turn the environment toxic
couple things make me wonder this
1st, has he handled Kizor well? Did they throw him into an impossible situation by starting him before he was ready? and then mess him up by jerking him in and out of the lineup?
2nd the McCarron trade? If they had done that, would that have actually been a good trade for them? Is there any rational argument for thinking McCarron would have been the long term answer there? Were they just trying to salvage a couple extra wins in a lost season, and paying a long term premium to do it? Why did they try and make that trade? Was it because Jackson was being pissy about his short term prospects and they were just trying to do something to make him happy (because that's dysfunctional long term situation if that's what it was)
------
ultimately these are questions that as outsiders its hard to know, but as an insider, the owner needs to make an assessment about
they've dicked around at the QB position for a few years now, they're probably going to have the #1 pick, its probably time to quit dicking around about it, and invest in a QB of the future
has their experience with Jackson the last 2 years led them to think he's the guy they want to trust with the development of that QB? idk
its also a situation where they need to not keep tearing down the foundation every 2 years
----------
suggestion
either stick with Jackson
or
if they think that he's not the guy they want to trust with their next QB
keep the GM, keep the defensive coordinator, pick Baker Mayfield #1 overall, hire Lincoln Riley as new head coach
invest in Mayfield with the idea that he doesn't need to learn a whole new system, or work with a whole new coach, he just needs to do what he's already done, at a graduate level, against a higher level of competition

fair enough
seems like most of the better offenses over the last decade have been aping college concepts
seems like might be useful to go right to the source
--------
I can see the risk though, I'd try and surround him with veteran NFL assistants if they did it though (start with trying to keep Gregg Williams as the DC, to give half the building some continuity)
also only like it if they think Mayfield's is definitely the guy they want to bet on
and if, after being in the same building as Mayfield for the last three years, Riley seems gung-ho about attaching the next 10 years of his career to Mayfield

at some point they should be able to harvest all their draft picks into something reasonable
they need make sure they're not injecting picks into a toxic situation though
I'm not a believer that laundry equals destiny generally

Sashi should go. The AJ McCarron stuff was insane but trading of Haden was180.
It’s a mess as usual in Cleveland but changing head coaches won’t do shit. It’s a toxic environment for coaches and they need to ride out Hue a little longer. At least give him a decent roster before making a decision.

You know, I've always felt that ownership is vastly underrated as it relates to the success of a team.
I think a lot of this shit is just retards scuffling until you deal with the people at the top (i.e., the owners).
