Chris Schumacher spent 17 years in prison where he overcame addiction through exercise — running the San Quentin Marathon twice (105 laps around the yard!) — and underwent a transformative journey of self-discovery, education, rehabilitation and redemption. During his last few years at San Quentin, Chris was selected to be part of The Last Mile. To his surprise, Chris fell in love with coding — he aced the program and started doing projects for some of the biggest tech companies in the world from behind prison walls. He was released in May 2017 and now lives in the Bay Area where he works as a coder and aspiring entrepreneur.
