In my experience, my students are much more paranoid about getting caught than I am. If I get caught, my colleagues will probably look at me disapprovingly, but they'll secretly be jealous and admire me for being such an alpha. But everyone will assume that the girl is a complete slut who slept her way to good grades. So it's very low risk if the girl is into you. That said, I'm enough of a beta that I won't actively pursue a girl that's in my class or who I'm advising or whatever unless she makes it blatantly obvious that she wants to be pursued. It's just not worth the risk of being sexual harassment pwned, particularly when I already have a complaint on my record. (Ironically it was a completely bogus complaint, too. The investigation concluded that it was bogus, but I still can't risk another one.) I'll gladly chase a girl once she's not in my class any more, though.
