yes, at least to the extent that they have larger than average vocabularies for their age and can actually carry a conversation, so I guess just high verbal IQ

read to your kids aloud every night from the day they're born. It's not that hard.

My friends 4.5 year old is a motormouth. I am stupefied by how verbose he is. I’ve never seen a kid his age talk so much and so fluently. Granted I haven’t been around as many kids as others but he was talking pretty well even when he was 2.5.

Yes, its actually incredible obvious who is going to end up on each end of the bell curve. Just talk to them for 5 minutes and then give them some lego to play with and see what they do. Those two datapoints is all you need.

A friend has this lego engineering side gig which I help teach when he is busy/sick/on vacation and I can walk into a room with a dozen kids who I've never met before and instantly spot the smart ones. Also gender stereotypes exist for a reason, the girls will almost never stray from the build instructions and will always clean up after themselves and put everything back in its place, the boys will run wild but will almost always build faster, understand the concept faster and enhance their structure by themselves in interesting ways.

See, mean reversion is a big issue with the kids of smart parents even if there is a strong correlation between parental IQ and child IQ. The way to mitigate this risk is to look back multiple generations, so dont just look at your GF and say "she is smart, therefore I have a good chance of having smart kids with her" instead look at her parents, grandparents and even get a sense of the professions of her great grandparents. If her family is all dumbs except her, you are fukt.

supposedly doctors gave barron trump and some girl legos a bunch of years back when they were both four. the girl built a bento box and trump built what appeared to be a wall. the doctors fast tracked the girl and diagnosed barron with male stupidity disorder. the girl is currently a hs sophomore taking classes at columbia, so they were right.

I have a cousin who has two kids. She and her husband both have PHD degrees and their parents as well as grandparents were all extremely intelligent, so obviously their kids are going to be smart.

Anyway, the two kids are like 2 years apart - and the oldest one was always very precocious and had a high verbal IQ while the youngest one was very very quiet - to the point where I almost never heard her say anything longer than one sentence and thought she was either super shy or possibly even autistic.

Obviously they both excel in school but a few months ago I spoke to the younger one who is still in grade school and found that she is INSANELY smart in all subjects without even trying to be and has an extremely precise memory, I would not be surprised if she is a genius. Her older sister is also very intelligent but when you are listening to the younger one reason and deduce things on her own, you can tell she has all the data indexed in her mind and can summon it and manipulate it at will.

It's kind of odd but I think the ones that do not speak for a long time are major bell curve outliers one way or the other.

By age two, she was able to do word search puzzles. She couldn't read, but she could recognize that one set of squiggles was the same as a different set of squiggles somewhere else.

This kind of innate pattern recognition is going to serve her well during a case based interview.
