During a rally to promote Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore, Donald Trump continued to attack the 'rigged' and 'sick' government institutions that he claims try to thwart his administration.

At the Friday night event to promote the alleged sexual assaulter, he said: 'This is a rigged system. This is a sick system from the inside.

'And, you know, there is no country like our country but we have a lot of sickness in some of our institutions.'

He did not name FBI special counsel Robert Mueller by name in the speech, but has done battle with the bureau as it continues to investigate his campaign team's ties to Russian operatives.

Trump has been fighting Mueller with ever-increasing vigor, particularly now that former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn has agreed to a plea bargain over his lies to the FBI about conversations with Russia's ambassador.

CNN has posited that Trump is purposefully tearing into government systems in an effort to discredit them, particularly in the event that Mueller finds Trump committed a crime.
