I mean, I've always thought racism meant that you treated members of a race poorly regardless of their individual characteristics.
If you meet good black people, and you treat them well and like any other good member of society, then I've never thought of that person as being racist. Similarly, you'd expect people to be weary of gangbangers, regardless of their race.
The fact that you might choose not to live in a city or neighborhood that had a high % of blacks just illustrates that there may be certain problems in the urban black community. So long as you don't treat good black people poorly, I don't think you're acting in a racist manner, much in the same way that you don't necessarily hate all midwesterners if you don't live in some poor, meth riddled shithole in a random midwestern city. |
