These are considered the BEST unproduced scripts in the industry. Holy shit almost all of them sound like complete garbage. It is hard to believe many of these are actually serious ideas. JFC how many assassin, holocaust, and lib wish fulfillment movies can they make? Not to mention movies featuring CIA agents, Navy Seals, or comedies with "kooky" characters. Hollywood is officially out of ideas.
Before Roe v. Wade in 1960s Chicago, a pregnant woman becomes a member of an underground group which provides abortions in a safe environment.
When a liberal, white, college sophomore who knows exactly how to fix society accuses her equally liberal professor of hate speech, it throws the campus and both their lives into chaos as they wage war over the right way to stop discrimination.
Based on the book The Story of Jane: The Legendary Underground Feminist Abortion Service by Laura Kaplan. An ordinary group of women provide 11,000 safe, illegal abortions in Chicago from 1968 through 1973
To combat crime in near-future Los Angeles, the FBI creates supercops based on specific genetic sequences. To their shock, the best candidate is a vulgar stripper named Moxie.
An uptight, high-achieving, black post-grad who becomes (increasingly) irreverent and (slightly) destructive when she realizes that the life she’s living is not the life she wants

IDK about that. There are a ton of shows out there with unique plots. Not saying they all succeed. But at least they are not totally derivative and boring. Shows off the top of my head that are atypical and at least have high production values: Narcos, Peaky Blinders, Last Kingdom,, Mindhunters, The OA, 13 Reasons Why, Handmaids Tale, Black Mirror, Billions, Rectify, Homeland, Big Little Lies, Masters of Sex, The Girlfriend Experience, Dark, The Deuce, Leftovers, Twin Peaks, Fargo, Legion, Mr Robot.
Apple, Facebook, Netflix, Amazon, plus all the networks are spending billions on original programming. All the money and talent is going to TV.

lol at handmaids tale.
all of those either suck or used to be good and currently suck or are over completely and likely not to come back.
it's very hard to create a compelling story that goes on season after season.

yeah i agree with that- much easier to set up and resolve than draw out exposition endlessly. again why I think we might see more movies, just an easier format to write in.
although tbf if disney buys up 21st century fox, that cuts the other way.

They all fit neatly within a handful of types:
Jewish hero/anti Nazi movies
Liberal historical hagiography dealing with race/gender issues
Movies about the movie industry (e.g. John Hughes biopic)
CIA/Assassin/Special Forces heroes with a plot that has a dumb TWIST to it (multiple personalities, time travel, set in space)

A seemingly progressive suburban husband and wife renting their garage through AirBnB become suspicious of their Muslim
