i’ve literally cut my aggregate returns in half through retarded attempts to sell high and buy lower. each time i end up capitulating and buying back less than i had originally. fuck fuck.

if you’re a robot devoid of human emotion, the optimal strategy is probably to ignore major gains or losses, keep 50% cash on hand in gdax and swoop in like a fucking vulture when prices drop percipitously.

exactly. 99% of trades are probably stupid in the final analysis. the only times to transact are when it seems like the world is ending (eg when china banned bitcoin exchanges) and when you ultimately decide to cash out

that’s the thing. everyone’s panicked about missing out because of the sheer euphoria others are enjoying. but this shit is volatile as fuck and it’s a near certainty that they WILL tank at some point. people say holding is the best strategy. a better one is holding combined with very rare huge purchases at certain key moments (say every 75% decline)

Problem is determining what's "low"

If ETH drops to $550 now, is that low? Well, only if it bounces up permanently. Maybe it eventually goes to $200 again and buying at $550 is a mistake?

It's only easy in hindsight

can you spot a potential issue with this analogy? are you familiar with the concept of a beta in finance? ethereum’s is like a billion
