Super diligent, nice guy clearly trying to make a good impression. A few days ago he asked a female colleague down the hall for a sample (they are the same year) and she apparently told him she didn’t have any samples. He emails me asking who might have a good model. I forward to partner who I know just finished a substantial one. She copies, you guessed it, the female associate, asking her to forward one that they served just a few weeks ago. Guy later came to me confused, mentioning that he already reached out to this person. Should I just let this slide or talk to her? My firm is pretty collegial and her move was total BS, especially to someone who is new. If I bring it up, what’s a good way to go about it? Senior associate would typically work with the discovery folks to create the search to create the universe of docs to be reviewed for the depo prep. B is also a legit middling IQ dolt who strivered his way from a mediocre top-50ish undergrad to a top-20ish law school to biglaw, which would be fine for lasting 3-4 years in biglaw if he didn't ruin his reputation early on. once asked all of us on a case what we would wear for an important internal team meeting /w head partner, then one-upping us all with something more formal
on a different case where he was working in tandem with a couple of other juniors on a project, dragged them out for drinks, got them semi-drunk, then said he was going back to bill (turned out he'd actually been drinking non-alcoholic drinks posing as mixed drinks the whole time)
at any firm event would only suck up to / corner rainmakers or other partners and ignore all associates |
