Austria's incoming chancellor has said he will reject the European Union's compulsory migrant quota when he takes charge of the country next week.
Sebastian Kurz, 31, has joined leaders from Eastern and Central Europe in pushing back against the scheme, which was designed to help Italy and Greece deal with hundreds of thousands of new arrivals.
EU president Donald Tusk has also spoken out against the quotas, but Germany - the bloc's most influential country - has backed it.
Tusk called the troubled scheme 'ineffective' and 'highly divisive' in a letter to EU leaders before a summit in Brussels that entered its second day Friday.

"You and what army?"
Austria is doing this because of Trump. When Trump visited Europe, he went to Poland first. There's a reason for that. He's signaling he has their back in this. Listen to the speech he gave. "No better friend, no worse enemy." Germany is already squalling about the new US tax bill because they can't compete against it.
Also, Trump is making bilateral trade deals, 1-on-1 deals that benefit America and the other country. He's not doing any more deals like NAFTA or TPP. As such, Germany is becoming increasingly isolated. Merkel can't form a government and AfD scored 3rd in the elections this past September. There is a significant chance they have another election in the coming months because Merkel can't form a government and AfD gains even more seats.
Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, and now Austria. More will follow. Trump will give them favorable trade deals which will 1) benefit the US. 2) benefit the host country. 3) fuck over Germany, France, and Britain.
