It's basically Stone's version of A People's History of the United States....
It's been a while since I've seen it, but after educating myself on history by orders of magnitude compared to when I watched the series, the parts on Stalin were the most absurd from what I remember. Basically implying that we screwed stalin over, as if he didn't stick to every agreement with the axis powers better than he stuck to his agreements with the allies.
Also nonsense in how much it weighed us wanting to demonstrate power to Soviet Union as a reason for using the nukes... Obviously it was a great side benefit, but it was nowhere near a decisive factor in the decision.
Series like this are interesting as part of your progression from "history I learned as a teenager in school" where you learn much more about stuff the u.s. did. But too often people stop here and just come away with the "america is the evil empire in the world" viewpoint of a college sophomore.
I'm certainly not against learning about America's sins - but the sins of America are the sins of mankind, and at the very least we should really educate ourselves in depth on world history to put this stuff in perspective.... And Oliver Stone is just not a great source for this stuff in isolation without followup reading from historians on these topics
