thats actually reasonable. i have a 17-mile one-way commute that i make 6 days a week on average. wife has a shorter commute. between the two of us on average we fill up each vehicle once a week at ~$50 each, so call it $5,200/yr

40 miles a day, 25 mpg, $2.50 gas, 6 days a week, is $24 per week, broski.

In order to spend $5200 on gas, EACH of you would have to average 75 miles driving EVERY DAY.

If his fill up costs 50 bucks, he’s probably not driving a car that gets 25 mpg. He’s still off but average couple with commutes are paying easily 3 grand a year. It’s not hard to see someone paying 5k if they have long commutes and cars with shit gas mileage.

also, 3k sounds like not that much for clothing, but that's quite a bit if you're doing it every year. 4800 on gas seems like too much too.

Why would it not be all inclusive? Do u see state, payroll, property, sales, etc. somewhere else?

Edit: property is listed separate tif. Still pretty close tho, at least in a high tax state..

I don't see state, but I've never seen "federal + state" described as "effective" rate before.

but 30% seems like a good estimate of total tax rate on 200K for the average state.

Yeah that’s not the normal usage of that term but whatever.

Feds should grab mid to high teens in income tax for a guy with mortgage interest n 2 kids. 7.5 percent for payroll. If the state takes 5%, ur getting close.

$3,000 in consumer debt? No one with a college degree should have this.

$5,000 in lessons for your child? LJL if they're young enough to need $24k in "childcare" (younger than 5) why are they taking lessons? If it's a second child, live in a good school district where they offer music, dance, etc., and avoid paying for this flame.

$8,000 in vacations? If your barely getting by use points and take one vacation.

400k is about 22k a month after taxes.

A 30 year mortagage on a 2 million house is only about 9k a month. You could buy one and have 13k a month left over for other expenses. Seems eminently doable.

I pay 5500 for property taxes, homeowners insurance, and mortgage.

Daycare is 2000 per month.

Until this month my wife and I were maxing out 401k.

Food/gas and things like that are 3000 per month.

Almost half our money goes to state and federal taxes, FICA, Social Security, and other bullshit like that.

And last year we spent too much on vacations, would give in and eat out too often. Would say yes when our kid would beg for a toy. Would say fuck it and buy a new suit for work or a new screw gun because I really wanted them. This is the shit we need to clean up this year.

16,683-5,500-2,000-3,000

=6,183

per month left over for random expenses or saving

that's a lot of money

In the cities where it's feasible to get a wagecuck salary of $200K it's $800K to get a cookie cutter mini McMansion with a 1-1.5 hour commute and your kids will still go to school with fobs. If they want to play competitive sports that's $5K per kid per year. Effective tax rate is higher and so are most of the other expenses listed besides vacations which can be forgone. Solution: don't be a wagecuck and live in are country
