In retrospect it was quiet, serene, peaceful. You dote on the kid and feel like you and ur wife are on this special journey. Your focus changes in a good way. Life becomes full of these precious moments with the kid, not a bunch overwhelmingly profound ones necessarily, just small waves of contentment.

Then that second motherfucker comes and you find out what fatigue is all about.

None of those things are true, u just don't have perspective to know any better.

Having more than one allows you to watch the sibling relationships develop, which is one of the most 180 things about having kids.

Counterintuitively, the most stressful number for parents (based on surveys, etc) is 3. Once you get above 3 I think parents learn to slide and let do. Also I think there are enough kids that they play with each other and don't need as much mom/dad time any more

This was it for me. When we had only 2, they were both helpless and required 100% attention. The first year after our third was largely the same, but after a while our oldest was able to pitch in a little here and there at least, which helped a ton

going from 0 to 1 is life changing.

going from 1 to 2 really depends on age gap imo. 2 kids in 2 years is completely different from 2 kids in 5 years.

3 is the most stressful according to surveys. 4 is the least stressful.

any more and it's just marginal.
