cr OAFISH even, a telecaster demands classy single coils.

In response to OP, a Gretsch and a 335 are very different guitars brother don't be fooled because they just both happen to have f holes.

Personally i would go with the gibson. I believe it can be had for around $1,600. If you are already spending $1,000, get the guitar you want.

Also i would get a 339. The 335 is cumbersome.

I have played guitar for a long time, and as far as electric guitars are concerned, expensive guitars are mostly flame. You don't need anything better than a mexican strat. It would be better to invest your time in improving your ear and your technical ability.

Gibson guitars post like 2005 are VERY hit or miss. I had a 339 from 2012 that was decent. I’d give it like a B+. I’ve now got a LP Traditional from 2014 and it’s not great. Bridge is terrible, nut needs work, etc.

Whatever you get definitely play it first. I’d recommend a 335 over a 339 (looks childish unless you’re a tiny man). And I’d recommend something from the 90s or early 2000s

I haven’t. I’m always biased against those unique guitars unless I’m absolutely in love with them because it’s usually harder to resell. Something about an f hole in an LP seems blasphemous tho

All modern LP's are hollow body to some extent. You just can't see it because of the maple cap. But it's not a slab of wood like a Fender is - mahogany is just too heavy.
