I went to a Whole Foods last week to get Brussels sprouts. It felt like a post-apolocalyptic wasteland. All the produce shelves picked clean, a madding crowd pressing in everywhere. Managed to get the last 8 or so sprouts withering pathetically at the bottom of the barrel. Would not go again.

This is seriously insane. My departments are fully stocked at all times, and our inventory system is older and presumably worse than whatever Whole Foods is using. I can't believe this is real.

But Whole Foods employees say the problems began before the acquisition. They blame the shortages on a buying system called order-to-shelf that Whole Foods implemented across its stores early last year.

Thanks, McKinsey!

My company tried similar bullshit, and it was abandoned almost immediately. All kinds of stupid buzzwords and "solutions" for non-existent problems. Stocking shelves is not hard, yet they tried to make it seem like quantum physics.
