it seems like the cost of dental school is completely out of control. it's actually way more expensive than med school now.
looking at your alma mater tuition and school fees for the medical school are ~$60,000 (https://www.med.upenn.edu/admissions/tuition-fees.html) versus $88,345 at the denTTTal school (https://www.dental.upenn.edu/academic_programs_admissions/dmd_program/tuition_fees)
wtf is up with this man? why are dental schools able to charge MOAR $$$ for a less desirable dental degree that makes le$$ money over the long term for grads than an MD?

the post above is not "pretty CR" it makes no sense. there are tons of rich kids at med school whose parents are doctors/want them to join practice or take over.
but the rest of your post is interesting and informative, so thank you.
follow up Q can you go into more detail about "running a dental clinic"? what is that exactly and how is it different from med schools giving their students clinical experience at the university hospital? also even if they're giving patients "low cost" dental care to train students why do they have to run it at a loss? why not run it at very modest profit or break even level so dental students don't have to underwrite it out of their tuition?
