A lot of highly-educated high-income people are going to want to live in California no matter what because of the perfect weather, natural amenities and things to do. The existing networks and infrastructure in tech/entertainment among other industries can't be replicated.

My home state is experiencing life threatening blizzards right now. It is legitimately a lot nicer here and some people will justifiably pay whatever the price if they make a lot of money.
I also got about a 35% pay increase when I moved out here and my wife is making around $60 more an hour than she would in most other states. You get paid more here to compensate for the high COL and taxes. |
