It's never the word or the designation that's the problem, It's the thing it represents
It's the same reason scientific designations of 'negative' mental disorders always become insults and have to be cycled out, like moron, retard, mongoloid (these were all medical terms)
The same happens with blacks. negro > black > hyphenated american > no wait it's black > no wait it's poc, wait don't say colored... it can go on forever. The reason the flavor of the month designation for blacks suffers pejoration is because, on a macro scale, blacks suck, so eventually whatever blacks are commonly referred to eventually gets a negative connotation and becomes incendiary, in any context, simply hearing the supposedly inert name makes the pattern recognition in people's brains fire "BAD BAD BAD"
Why was this never a problem for whites? asians? because they were fine, and therefore secure, blacks have to dance around it just to assuage their self hatred & unending cognitive dissonance
