Not to out myself, but when I bought my e-ring diamond I posted the specific one on a diamond forum to sanity check because everything about the rock seemed to imply it should be 1000's more. The retailer is a sponsor on that forum, saw my post, and apparently I was right. They placed a temporary hold on the sale, then next day released it to me at the original price; their fault and they ate it. (markup is insane on this shit, so doubtful they really 'lost' money). |

My wife likes it but has no idea what I spent. I don't really want her to know, or she'd probably be upset and think it's wasteful. I meant what I said above: I really think online has fucked everyone up re: diamonds. We see these 200x images that make all but the very best diamonds look awful, but then you get it and lol because you can't see shit IRL on any normal-sized stone, particularly in brilliant cut. I assume that my wife's is sparklier because there are fewer inclusions and the ratios are "excellent," but it's not like people are ever critically comparing them side-by-side, when they're both clean / not dusty and oily, in the same settings, etc. |
