Why are Trumptards getting so riled up about Nunes memo and FBI texts?

1. Nunes memo is just a 4-page memo that leaves out relevant facts. There is no smoking gun. If there were, Trump would have declassified it in a heartbeat and gone on a twitter rant. Nunes won't even let the DOJ look at it.
2. Even if the Obama administration used the Fusion dossier as a basis for receiving FISA wiretap warrant, it does not indicate wrongdoing as the government can use a wide array of reasons to justify a warrant. The FISA court grants more than 99% of all requests.
3. The FBI texts show that the agents were politically biased, but no evidence of actual wrongdoing or sabotaging an investigation.

2. The Fusion dossier was only part of the intelligence behind the FISA wiretap. It's far from clear that the dossier was necessary to get the wiretap.
3. Everyone has a political point-of-view. Democrats can investigate Democrats because they'll help out, and Democrats can't investigate Republicans because they'll hurt them. Same of Republicans. So who the fuck does the investigations, Bernie Sanders supporters?

2. There is no evidence that the FISA request was to spy on the GOP nominee, if only because FISA warrants cannot target American nationals. FISA warrants target foreign nationals, and if targeted foreign nationals speak with Americans, that information is also collected. So if we're spying on Russians, and the Russians are recorded offering a quid pro quo with the Trump campaign, for instance, then there's nothing to complain about with regard to FISA.
3. The dossier was actually initiated by a Republican who was a never-Trumper. Steele was considered a trustworthy source due to his reputation in the field. |
