You fail to take something else into consideration. As an expat who lives in Hidalgo full time, let me explain something about the new cars in Mexico. You typically buy 2/3 the car. Many Nissans for the Meixican market lacks ABS, Airbags, & other safety features that are standard in the US. A stereo may be optional. Many have smaller engines (often under-powered) on this side of the border, smaller tires, no AC, etc. Many cars with emergency brake assist, or lane keep assist as STANDARD in the US are usually not equipped with these features on the mexico side. Often, not even available.

So.. comparing prices between the US and Mexico are not really useful.

Also, take into consideration that – because of the reasons above, and many more – people here (Mexicans) are willing to pay 20-30% MORE for a vehicle that has been brought down from the US!
