I know I made a thread about this recently but I'm making another one.

Don't have kids yet so I prefer a 2 door. Doesn't need to be AWD. Want it to be under warranty.

don't have a dog (i want one again badly though), never have a need to have anyone in the backseat. the airport issue or getting shit from home depot n what not is an occasional issue but i have the SUV for that

911R only goes to 8500, 991.1 GT3RS to 8800.

The new GT3RS will be sick but PDK only.

I actually like PDK, like aside from it being boring it's perfect and very fast. But all of these cars are so over the top for street driving that you won't give up much by going manual if you want to have more fun.

911R owners must be pissed that the GT3 will get a stick.

That was AP’s point in doing the 6MT in the GT3 and then he really screwed the 911R flippers with the touring. An R wholesale is $300k (or less) down from $500k.

I can’t do PDK. #threepedalstwosyllables

TBF even $300k is robbery for that car. I'd drive a 997.1 GT3 forever and you can buy one for $100kish: Mezger engine, 6 speed, hydraulic steering, nice racing buckets, what more could you want?

An LSD that does not blow up (guards makes one but $$$$), coolant lines that don’t dump all the coolant (have to weld as pinning they will leak), more than 415hp.

The 997 GT3RS I had was my favorite new car. 991 GT3 is better. Whether it is better than a 4.0 GT3RS I don’t know as I never drove one.

do you track? very few places where > 400hp can be used on the street except for accelerating on empty highways and boring stuff like that which other cars are better suited to.

IMO feedback and linearity trump raw power, especially when you have a very respectable amount of power anyway. you can have a ton of fun in an older car.

anyway I like to buy in the gentle slope of the depreciation curve. buying a 997 GT3 now basically lets you drive for free.

Don’t track and I don’t drive fast since I wrecked.

All these cars will plummet in value. We are in a car bubble. Plus maintaining a 997 GT3 is not cheap. And the 997.1 GT3 is not great whereas finding a 997.2 GT3 is very hard and will cost close to GT3RS money. And good look finding one that was not tracked.

lol @ caring about AC if you own one.

The AC and heat are in the same system unlike the NAS 90s where AC is added under the dash. On the NAS 110 the bulkhead does not have vents, so without AC it is intolerable. I suppose maybe if you left the carpet for some insulation it might be ok, but it is hot.

Wait it doesn't have those cool vents where they push out through the exterior? Lame.

I think 4WD is less desirable, but it's rear biased so I don't mind it much. Plus the 4S has the sexy widebody shape. I was originally looking for a GTS manual since GT3s were already priced into the stratosphere, but impossible to find.

My car isn't crazy on options: PASM, PDLS, leather sport seats, Nav/Bose audio, but what more do you need in a car like that?

I never really drive it but it's kind of stupid to sell. Every time I take it out of the garage, I have a blast, and no car in its price range feels the same.

don't want to put miles on it for no reason and I get used to the power. I don't commute to work by car so driving it for a mile to the train is pretty pointless.

not actually trying to sell since I bought it used and it doesn't really matter. only annoying thing is that it takes up garage space.

Driving a pcar is always a sufficient reason to put miles on it. Only the fcar people are idiots who look at them not drive them and sell with four digits on the odo. There is a 356 with a million miles, an early turbo with close to 500k, 993s with 300k etc.
