3rd row is strictly designed for kids in midsize suvs. You cannot stick adults back there due to lack of leg room. They’d be more comfortable squished btwn 2 car seats.

If you really want 7 passenger where you can fit adults, you need a minivan or a yuge suv. We rented a Chevy suburban and that thing was like a luxurious boat.

this is a good point. the third row in a highlander for example is really uncomfortable for an adult, and you're also not going to put car seats all the way back there because it will be impossible to strap kids in and out.
